This is one of our flexible tours, meaning you won't be with a set group and tour leader for the duration, instead, you will be met at your hotels by a driver and/or guide every step of the way, and will have the chance to meet new people on each daily tour or excursion. This gives you not only the flexibility of free time away from a set group, but also the opportunity to meet a new expert local guide at every step of your journey.
This trip is a great extended variation on the most popular route through Costa Rica, exploring all the highlights with a couple of lovely beach stays. It has a really generous number of included activities that make it one of the best value options in the country, and one of our favourites!

Day 1: Welcome To Costa RicaArrival Day
WELCOME TO COSTA RICA!
We’re so happy you’ve chosen our country for your adventure. You’ve arrived in a land full of nature, culture, and Pura Vida, where every moment can become an unforgettable experience.
When you arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport, our professional driver will be waiting for you with a sign displaying your name, making it easy to find us. They will assist you with your luggage and take you comfortably to your hotel in San José. This private service is designed to ensure a smooth journey and a warm welcome to our beautiful country. The drive typically takes between 25 and 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
If you don’t see your driver upon exiting the airport, don’t worry—please wait a moment and call the agency’s emergency number. Please, do not go with another driver, your safety is our top priority!

Day 2: Pacuare River Adventure
Wake up surrounded by the untouched beauty of Costa Rica’s primary rainforest along the legendary Pacuare River, one of the world’s premier whitewater rafting destinations. Here, adrenaline meets tranquility as you navigate thrilling rapids through lush jungle landscapes teeming with exotic wildlife such as jaguars, monkeys, and a kaleidoscope of tropical birds. Day 3: Discover Puerto Viejo, Caribbean Charm
Journey to the colorful and culturally rich town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, located on Costa Rica’s southern Caribbean coast. Once a small fishing village, Puerto Viejo has blossomed into a hotspot of Afro-Caribbean and indigenous Bribri culture, infused with a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for beach lovers and cultural explorers alike. Enjoy soft white sand beaches and turquoise waters ideal for snorkeling and surfing or stroll through town sampling local flavors from diverse eateries and lively bars. Day 4: Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge Tour
Explore one of the Caribbean coast’s most treasured natural reserves, the Gandoca- Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. This protected area features a remarkable diversity of ecosystems, where dense tropical rainforest meets pristine beaches. On a guided walking tour, you’ll traverse trails once used by local residents, passing through magnificent trees like ceiba and fig, and spotting abundant wildlife such as howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, and even elusive eyelash vipers. Day 5: Journey to Arenal Volcano
Travel to La Fortuna, a picturesque town framed by the iconic Arenal Volcano, a striking natural landmark standing over 5,400 feet tall. Day 6: Arenal Canyoning Hot Springs Relaxation
Experience the thrill of canyoning in the Lost Canyon, where you’ll rappel down waterfalls ranging from gentle 10-foot drops to an exhilarating 200-foot descent. Navigate through the rainforest, jumping into crystal-clear pools and climbing canyon walls surrounded by lush vegetation. Later, take a guided walk through the Arenal Volcano rainforest, learning about its unique ecosystem, before relaxing in the Paradise Hot Springs. The warm thermal pools and jacuzzis offer the perfect end to an action- packed day, complemented by a delicious dinner in a tranquil setting.

Day 7: Scenic Transfer to Monteverde via Lake Crossing
Depart Arenal for Monteverde, traveling partly by minivan and then enjoying a scenic 45-minute cruise across Lake Arenal. This peaceful journey offers breathtaking views of the volcano and surrounding mountains, setting the tone for your arrival in the cloud forest region. Monteverde’s cooler climate and misty forests create a magical atmosphere where lush greenery and abundant wildlife await your exploration. Explore Monteverde’s stunning landscapes on horseback, riding through trails with panoramic views of the Gulf of Nicoya and nearby volcanoes. Learn about traditional sugar cane processing and local culture along the way.

Day 8: Canopy tour / Zip line in Monteverde!
The canopy tour (also called zip line) is the most popular Costa Rican adventure tour. Enjoy a fantastic day of zip lining, and riding a giant swing in the beautiful cloud forest setting. Experience a unique perspective of the forest as you glide over the beautiful Costa Rican landscape.
While the nine zip lines are sure to amaze you, the real thrill comes from two Superman zip lines, including the longest zip line in Costa Rica! Swing like Tarzan on a mega swing, float down a rappel and keep your balance on a hammock bridge. Everything is included in the same tour. The maximum weight for a person to participate in the tour is 240 pounds.

Day 9: Transfer to Samara Beach
Head to Samara Beach on the Nicoya Peninsula, a tranquil crescent-shaped bay known for its calm waters, excellent surfing conditions, and unforgettable sunsets. The town is small and walkable, offering a laid-back beach vibe with plenty of local restaurants, bars, and wellness options like massages. It’s the perfect place to unwind, swim, or try your hand at surfing in a welcoming community.

Day 10: Ocean Kayak to Chora Island & Snorkeling
This is some of the best kayaking and snorkeling in Costa Rica. Start from Samara beach and enjoy a kayak trip across the bay to a deserted white sand beach on Isla Chora. This island is a refreshing escape to an underwater world. Here, you are free to snorkel with tropical fish, splash in clear waters or simply sit and take in the rays. Bask in the balance of a tour that includes both holiday exercise and ease. A great opportunity to view the marine wildlife of Costa Rica's Pacific coast.

Day 11: Shuttle Transfer from Samara to San Jose
