Peru: The Luxe Loop - 13 Days | The Holiday People
  • This trip is graded easy to moderate. Activities involve walking on uneven terrain, steps at archaeological sites, and jungle paths, plus a gradual introduction to high altitude (up to approx. 3,800 m / 12,500 ft). A reasonable level of mobility and health is recommended.

  • The itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatisation: starting at sea level in Lima, continuing to the Sacred Valley (lower than Cusco), then Cusco itself, before Lake Titicaca or the Amazon. Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals/alcohol for the first two days in the Andes, and consult your doctor about preventative medication if needed.

  • The lodge is reached via a 45-minute boat trip and offers guided walks, canoe outings, and night excursions. Activities are flexible and can be tailored to your comfort level. Families with children aged 8+ usually enjoy the jungle, but it’s less suited to very young children or those with mobility issues.

  • Daily breakfasts are included, along with selected lunches and dinners. Expect fresh fruits, breads, cereals, and hot dishes each morning. Lunches range from Andean delicacies at a private hacienda to fine à la carte dining at Machu Picchu’s Sumaq Hotel. In the Amazon, full board is provided with Peruvian and international dishes prepared from local ingredients. Dinners in Lima and Cusco include contemporary cuisine, while free evenings allow you to explore local restaurants. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets can be accommodated with prior notice.

  • Peru is renowned for its fusion of Andean, coastal, and international flavours. Try ceviche, quinoa salads, alpaca or chicken stews, tamales, fresh Amazonian fish, and sweet treats like suspiro limeño. The Amazon offers tropical fruits, river fish, and hearty stews. Spices are gentle, and many dishes can be adapted for children or those with allergies.
