Discover a region defined by volcanic peaks, black sand beaches, sea cliffs, and charming fishing villages. Visit the striking Gerðuberg basalt cliffs, walk along the scenic coastal trail between Arnarstapi and Hellnar, and explore the mysterious Djúpalónssandur black sand beach, once home to a thriving fishing village.

Admire the towering Lóndrangar sea cliffs, volcanic rock formations resembling the ruins of an ancient castle, now home to seabirds including puffins, fulmars, and gannets. Continue to the iconic Kirkjufell mountain, one of Iceland’s most photographed natural landmarks.

At Ytri Tunga, enjoy the chance to spot seals along the shoreline of a golden sandy beach, with views of Snæfellsjökull glacier in the distance — the very volcano made famous in Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Continue to the Geysir geothermal area, home to the original geyser that gave its name to all others. While Geysir itself is dormant, nearby Strokkur erupts every 5–10 minutes, sending boiling water high into the air.

Explore Sólheimajökull glacier, a striking glacier tongue extending from the larger Mýrdalsjökull ice cap, where contrasting colours of ice and surrounding mountains create an unforgettable landscape.

End the day at the famous Reynisfjara black sand beach, where basalt columns, crashing Atlantic waves, and offshore rock formations — known locally as petrified trolls — create one of Iceland’s most dramatic coastal scenes.

Continue towards the glacial region where you’ll reach Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, a vast lake filled with floating icebergs that have broken away from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.

Nearby, visit the stunning Diamond Beach, where ice fragments wash ashore, glistening against the black sand like scattered jewels.
