Summary

Vietnam is incredible for families - the key is not trying to do all of it at once. This journey is designed to strike the right balance: enough adventure to keep things exciting, with enough downtime to be able to properly enjoy it.

You'll see all the highlights, expect the buzz of the capital to limestone landscapes and rainforest backdrops, overnight luxury trains, and the slower rhythm of lantern-lit ancient towns. There’s time built in to enjoy the comfort of your hotels too - easy afternoons, pool breaks, and moments where nothing is scheduled,

Along the way, experiences are a mix of hands-on activities and sit back and relax moments. Kayak through quiet mangrove forests, explore the renowned rice fields and villages, share a meal in a local home, and spend time on the Mekong Delta where life plays out on the water. It’s Vietnam, without overcomplicating things.

Travel is smooth, logistics are handled, and the pace stays comfortable throughout - so you can focus on enjoying it together and making those memories they'll remember forever.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Day 1 – Touchdown Hanoi: First Tastes & First ImpressionsArrival Day

Arrive at any time and step straight into the energy of Vietnam together. Your transfer takes you through the hum of Hanoi’s streets - a show of scooters weaving, street food sizzling, and the excitement of daily life unfolding around you.

After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to settle in at your own pace. Whether that’s a short wander, your first taste of Vietnamese coffee (or fresh juice for the kids), or simply relaxing after the journey, this is an easy introduction for the whole family to adjust and ease into the adventure ahead.

  • Day 2: Day 2 – Hanoi Uncovered the City's Showstoppers

Today, you’re guided through Hanoi to see the life and heart of Vietnam - beyond the main sights and into the rhythm of everyday life. Head into a local neighbourhood rarely visited by tourists, where narrow alleyways, small markets, and community life unfold around you.

You'll wander through bustling local markets filled with fresh produce, street snacks, and the sounds of daily trade, before continuing on foot through hidden backstreets and quiet temples. Stop for a drink of coffee and juice by the lake, taking a moment to watch the world go by and soak it all in.

A real highlight comes as you’re welcomed into a local family home for a home-cooked lunch - a relaxed, authentic experience that offers a genuine connection to Vietnamese culture.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon with time to unwind. The evening is free - whether you head out for more adventures or keep things easy after a full day.

  • Day 3: Day 3 – Journey to Ninh Binh your First Countryside Glimpse

This morning is yours to wake and enjoy Hanoi at a slower pace before departing the city. Around midday, leave behind the buzz of Hanoi and travel south into the countryside.

As the scenery begins to shift, busy streets give way to open landscapes, rice fields, and dramatic limestone peaks rising from the ground. Arrive in Ninh Binh and settle into your peaceful luxury resort surroundings - a complete contrast to the city and perfect time for those sunset swims to take in the scenery.

  • Day 4: Day 4 – Boats & Limestone Giants: Exploring Tam Coc's Rivers and Caves

Today is all about one of Vietnam’s most iconic landscapes - and seeing it the right way.

Step aboard a small rowing boat and glide gently through the waterways of Tam Coc, passing between towering limestone cliffs, rice paddies, and through hidden caves. It’s calm, scenic, and surprisingly engaging for all ages as you drift through this natural wonder.

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace - whether that’s pool time, a bike ride, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. Ninh Binh is all about slowing down and soaking up nature at its best, so take the time to enjoy it.

  • Day 5: Day 5 - Tracks to the Tropics: An Overnight Train Adventure

Enjoy a relaxed morning before beginning your journey south. Transfer back to Hanoi in the afternoon, where a very different kind of experience awaits.

Board your overnight train and settle into your private cabin - a fun and memorable experience, especially for kids. As the train rolls out of the city and into the night, watch the changing landscapes fade into darkness and enjoy the adventure of travelling Vietnam by rail.

Fall asleep to the rhythm of the tracks and wake to coastal scenery of central Vietnam drifting by.

  • Day 6: Day 6 – The Ancient Lantern Town - Hoi An

Day 6 – Paddle & Play: Discover Hoi An’s Waterways

Arrive into central Vietnam and transfer to the charming town of Hoi An. After some time to relax and settle in, head out in the afternoon for a fun, active experience on the water.

Take to the river by kayak or paddleboard, gliding through peaceful mangrove forests and waterways lined with coconut palms. It’s a great mix of light adventure and exploration, suitable for both beginners and more confident paddlers.

Return to your hotel in the early evening, just in time to experience Hoi An at its best. As night falls, the town transforms with glowing lanterns lighting the ancient streets — perfect for a relaxed evening of wandering, good food, and soaking up the atmosphere.

  • Day 7: Day 7 - Bikes, Basket Boats & Beaches

This morning, head out into the countryside for a hands-on family adventure.

Cycle along quiet paths through rice fields, coconut groves, and local villages, far from the busier parts of town. Visit a community-run vegetable farm where you’ll learn about traditional farming methods. Then swap bikes for one of Vietnam’s most unique experiences - a ride in a traditional round basket boat.

After a relaxed local lunch surrounded by rice paddies, the afternoon is yours. It's recommended to head to the beach to experience some quirky beach bars, tasty food alongside some of Vietnam's best beaches.

  • Day 8: Day 8 – Journey South: A Whole New World

Say goodbye to Hoi An and transfer to the airport for your flight south.

Arrive into Ho Chi Minh City, where the pace picks up again. Modern, energetic, and full of life, it’s a complete contrast to the charm of Hoi An.

After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to relax or take a first look at the city.

  • Day 9: Day 9 – Into the Delta: Life on the Mekong Begins

This morning, leave the city behind and journey deep into the Mekong Delta - a world shaped entirely by the river.

Check-in to your luxury cabin and settle in as your cruise begins. Drift along the river, passing floating homes, fishing boats, and lush green landscapes.

Step ashore to visit local villages, gaining a closer look at how life unfolds here. As the sun begins to set, return to the boat and enjoy dinner on board, surrounded by the calm of the river.

Spend the night on the water - a unique and memorable experience for the whole family.

  • Day 10: Day 10 – Floating Markets & River Life

Wake early to the gentle movement of the river and head out to explore one of the Mekong’s floating markets.

Watch as boats filled with fruit, vegetables, and local goods trade along the water - a fascinating glimpse into a way of life that has remained unchanged for generations.

Continue exploring canals, villages, and local workshops throughout the day, with plenty of time to relax on board in between.

As evening falls, enjoy another peaceful night on the river.

  • Day 11: Day 11 – Back to the City: From River Calm to Saigon Buzz

After a final morning exploring the delta, disembark and begin your journey back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Arrive in the afternoon and check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is free - a great opportunity to enjoy a final dinner, celebrate by exploring the buzz of Saigon's famed nightlife, or simply relax and enjoy the rooftop city views.

  • Day 12: Day 12 – Farewell Vietnam: Until Next Time

As the sun sets on your time in Vietnam, enjoy a relaxed morning together - perhaps one last Vietnamese coffee or a final wander through the city.

Your transfer will take you to the airport for your onward journey. Time to say goodbye for now - but as they say, once you’ve been to Vietnam, it rarely stays just once.
