Ibiza Holidays

Ibiza Holidays

Ibiza is a different island to the idea it’s reputation might conjure. Once upon a time it was THE party haven but these days it’s more ‘Cool Ibiza’ than raves and light sticks (although you can still find light sticks aplenty if you wish!).

Looking for a boutique getaway in the hills? What about a beachside hotel within striking distance of a gorgeous old town? Maybe some walking, kayaking or SUP trips? Ibiza has it all. Ibiza is sun drenched, laid back and where the ‘in’ crowd continue to flock.

Post pandemic the nature of the islands has changed, Many of the clubs from the 90s and noughties have gone, replaced with bars, cafes, restaurants and hang out places. The sunsets remain the same as does Ibiza old town, an area not to be missed.

At two hours flying from UK airports it’s a perfect summer getaway if you’re looking for beaches, a hilltop hideaway or late nights with disco dancing!

Ibiza resorts

Playa d’en Bossa

PDB remains the most popular Ibiza resort boasting the longest beach on the island and is the home to the super clubs. During day time hours most people will flock to the golden and spacious beach with plenty of sun lounges to sit back and relax. There are plenty of water sports available or of course the infinite opportunity to swim in the crystal waters.

There are plenty of choices for cafes, bars and restaurants. During the night time hours the scene takes on a party atmosphere with the clubs opening doors later in the evening. If clubbing is not your thing then there are a lot of bars and we’d recommend checking out Sankeys for something more intimate and underground.

Ibiza Town (Eivissa)

Ibiza Town (or Eivissa in Catalan) is the largest town in Ibiza and the capital of the island. Like any major town there is something for everyone here from choice of bars and restaurants to the nightlight. Ibiza town is home to Pacha, maybe the most famous club in Europe, which attracts world famous DJs every summer.

The town itself is well worth taking some time to explore. The Old Town is beyond pretty with lovely local bars and places to eat with boutique fashion stores dotted along the streets. The Marina is also fabulous for walks and enjoying fantasies of boat living!

The crows here is international in it’s mix with a cool and laid back vibe. People watching will not be more fun than here. There are a lot of art galleries to visit and honestly, just walking around is really fun.

Figueretas

This small but delightful resort lies between Ibiza Town and PLaya d’en Bossa. You won’t be surprised to learn here you’ll find a golden sand beach, a promenade lined with palm trees and a wonderful selection of bars and restaurants. Figueretas isn’t ‘known’ for anything in particular but you can’t go wrong by staying here particularly if you’re looking for something a little quieter but with access to the city and the party scene.

Talamanca

This gorgeous Ibiza resort lies just north of Ibiza town and is around a ten to fifteen minute walk. Maybe the most attractive aspect of Talamnaca is the beach. It’s also known as the beach of Ibiza Town. It’s big, golden and has plenty of space. The waters here are shallow and great for swimming too. It’s a quiet resort and is the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation.

San Antonio

San Antonio and Sanantonio Bay are the places to stay of you’re looking for something lively! The strip running through the town is dotted with bars and along the end of the bay are the cool beachside places to enjoy a drink, maybe some food and watch the famous sunsets.

There are a lot of water based activity here such as jet-skiing, para gliding, speed boats, boat trips, party boats, snorkelling and much more.

The night life is legendary and will keep you going well into the dawn before you can relax on the beach.

Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia is, dare we say, a little more sophisticated and laid back than some resorts. A favourite for families due to it’s quiet and laid back nature, famous for the local food. Life here is certainly slower, boasting an exclusive marina, wonderful restaurants, shopping and another great sandy beach. If you’re looking to get away from party resorts this might be the place for you.

Es Cana

One of Ibiza Islands smaller resorts and offers both a quieter time but there are plenty of bars and nightlife for those who want it. Our favourite things about Es Cana is the pine tree backed beach, it feels much more wild and is quite different to the typical palm tree backed beaches.

Cala Llonga

Maybe the best resort for families in Ibiza. This sheltered cove and beach offer a family friendly and safe place to enjoy the beach and swimming. Hidden away, this is a quiet resort with the accommodations, bars, restaurants all geared up for families. Santa Eulalia and Ibiza Town are close by for days and nights out too if you’re a couple looking for a quiet place to stay.

The beach at Cala Llonga is big, one of the largest in Ibiza. There is always space, even in high season, for everyone. The gentle sloping bay makes this a wonderful cove for swimming and splashing about in the shallows. The cove is backed by hills giving the beach a lovely sheltered feel.

We should note, if you’re after wild nights out, Cala Llonga is not the place for you. If you’re looking for a relaxing family holiday for a week or two on the beach and exploring nearby towns and beaches, this is most definitely for you.

Portinatx

Located in the north of Ibiza, if you’re looking for a quiet holiday this is for you. Portinatx boasts not one or two, but three beaches. All are golden and sandy with gentle slopes taking you into the med for a dip. All three are safe for families and that’s of f the reasons you’ll find families flock here.

There are plenty of restaurants and bars of course but you're not going to find nightclubs here!

Puerto de San Miguel

The old fishing town and port, Puerto de San Miguel, is now transformed and is popular with families and couples alike.

The sheltered cove backed by pine trees is one of the most peaceful on the island, far away from any hustle, bustle and parties. A great day out here is to take one of the little ferries down to Portinatx or Es Cana or visit the Dripstone caves which are walking distance.

Cala Vadella

A small, sheltered and beautiful spot, lesser known and a real gem. This resort is on the west of the island and is very quiet, popular with families and those looking to get away from it all.

The beach is wide, sandy and gentle making it great for swimming. Many yachts are often moored in the bay due to the very sheltered nature the moon shaped crescent, natural hills and pine tree offer.

Cala San Vincente

Cala San Vinvente offers a moon crescent shaped wide sandy beach like so many on Ibiza. The promenade runs parallel to  the back of the beach with palm and pine trees dotted along the way. The crowd here is mixed from couples to families and friends.

The resort and beach can get windy at times and the sea a little choppy but we’d argue it’s maybe more attractive because of that. There are some good walks here up to the cliff tops for amazing views.

Getting there

There are a lot of direct flights from the UK with both low cost carriers such as easyjet and Jet2 as well as BA. The flight time is 2 hours. During the winter months the availability is significantly less.

Ibiza has only one main airport just outside Ibiza Town, around 7km away. On arrival you can hop on a bus or a taxi (if in doubt we’d recommend booking a pick up at the airport to whisk to to your accommodation, we can arrange this for you).

Where To Stay

We’d split Ibiza into three main categories:

Lively - where you can find nightlife!

We’d include Playa d’en Bossa, San Antonio Town & Bay and Ibiza Town.

Quiet - away from the clubs

Santa Eulalia, Cala Llonga, Portinatx, Puerto de San Miguel, Cala Vadella and Cala San Vincente

Bit Of  A Mix - away from but easy to get to the clubs

Figueretas, Talamanca and Es Cana

What To Expect

Ibiza is a beautiful island. We really can't recommend it enough but it is worth considering what you’re visiting for, what you want from your holiday as that may determine which area you stay.

It remains true that Ibiza offers very lively nightlife with some of the most famous night clubs in the world here but by the same token, there are places of quiet and seclusion, perfect for families.

There are also places up in the Ibiza hills, often overlooked but for some the ideal holiday setting. Certainly, up in the hills are where you'll find the most exclusive hotels and celebrity hang outs.

During summer you can expect sun throughout the day, warm nights and the most beautiful sunsets.

Money

The currency is the Euro. Cash machines are plentiful.
