Portugal Holidays

Famous for wine and sunshine, this beautiful country is the perfect summer escape. With a long large coastline bordering the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful beaches make Portugal your next summer escape. Perfect for hiking, kayaking and with some of the best food around. From bustling cities to quiet seaside towns, the golden beaches are just icing on the cake.

History, food and scenery are just the beginning of what you can expect to find in Portugal. Holidays that stay in your memory are made everywhere, whether it's an emotion that captures you or a memorable dining experience Portugal can create those memories that last forever. It's not just the beaches that attract tourists to Portugal there's so much more to explore.

If trekking is your thing, head to Madeira. The botanical scenery was once the watering system that is now used as hiking trails. The routes do vary but you may even end up in the clouds for some awe-inspiring views, others head through the traditional villages and for the more relaxing adventure.

The Algarve

The Algarve is a popular Portugal holiday for families, with beautiful beaches, sleepy fishing villages, golf courses, dining options, and tons of family friendly attractions. The coast line is dramatic and breathtaking. Albufeira and Lagos are the most popular towns in this area, offering the most accessible attractions and dining options. Take your pick each day of the different attractions available to you, simply spend a day chilling at the beach or you can head to the infamous golf courses to tee off in the sunshine. For a different pace the old town architecture will give you a quieter day or the waterparks will be full of fun!

Lisbon

Planning a Lisbon holiday? We can help guide you through the best places to stay, eat and visit. Lisbon is a popular city break destination and it is easy to see why. Its charming cobblestone streets and ubiquitous yellow trams are a photographer’s dream.

Enjoy a walking tour through the maze-like narrow streets of the Alfama district, and take in a fado (Lisbon blues) show. A shot of cherry liqueur (ginjinha) in one of the tiny, standing room only bars is a must.

Head out of the city to the fairytale town of Sintra to see the colourful castle and visit one of the best bakeries in Portugal. The Atlantic Coast is easily accessible for surfing or just to admire the spectacular waves and feel the wind in your hair.

Lisbon offers fine dining by the bowlful, beautiful weather and it is home to more UNESCO World Heritage landmarks than any other European city. It truly is a perfect addition to your Portugal holiday or stands proudly as a city break destination in its own right.

Madeira

A Madeira holiday offers something a little different in Portugal. With minimal beaches there's more to explore. This little island is located just 1,000 km away from the mainland. Popular for walking trips this amazing destination offers the luxury of some of the most beautiful hotels with the opportunity to explore both land and sea. This botanical dream offers some outstanding hotels to give you a luxury experience to break up the adventures available.

Walking trails use the existing routes of the Levadas. The Levadas are channels used in the waters system, the gentle flow uses gravity to carry water along channels in the coastline. A lot of walking trails will follow these routes, this gives you beautiful views through the lust botanical jungle. Not all the trails are easy! Talk to the team to find the perfect walking trail to suit you.

Portugal on a budget

Portugal is one of the most cost effective destinations in Europe. With affordable transport and a wide range of hotels to choose from there's something to suit every budget. Avoiding the peak season (June - August) and booking in advance means you can take advantage of many sales,  from airlines to hotels and transport. Public transport is affordable and often takes a scenic route, allowing you to see more of the country on a budget. Staying off the main roads and hunting out the local restaurants will allow you to taste some of the best and most affordable food around. Ask the locals where they like to eat and find your new favourite restaurant.

Affordable housing and high living standards means you'll be surrounded by some of the most content and grateful locals.

Touring Holidays

Hike, Bike and Kayak! What takes your fancy?

Have a dip in the Atlantic or hike in Madeira, have you thought about an adventure holiday? We can offer some amazing group tours that will lead you through the Portugal countryside to see some of the most dramatic scenery in Europe. After all that adventure, why not add on a beach break to the end, soak up the sunshine and sample the local wine while reminiscing about the trails you have completed.

Food

You'll never be disappointed by the food in Portugal. With luxury restaurants in the big cities for a date night experience, to the resorts that offer the english classics to satisfy the fussiest of eaters. Whether you're grabbing lunch on the go or enjoying a sit down meal overlooking the boats in port there will be so many things to try.

The coast line allows the locals to provide the freshest seafood, try some of the local fish stews and grilled fish dishes while sampling a glass of local wine. Grilled sardines are a firm favourite you'll find across the country and Portugese piri piri chicken is popular around the world! For a sweet treat make sure you pick up a Pasteis de Nata, the silkiest custard tart!

Portugal is famous for its Port and wine. Grown in the Douro Valley port is one of Portugal's most famous tipples. Make sure you add this local to the end of your meal.

Getting Around

Getting around Portugal is really easy. Opt to hire a car and explore at your own pace or jump on the local transport to seek your next destination. Portugal does not have many large highways so plan in some extra time to get to your destination. The Train is a really great affordable option to consider, while it travels slower than the buses the routes can be breathtaking. Major cities have tram networks providing reliable connections.

Weather

With almost year round sunshine, Portugal is a great option at any time of year. For sunseekers head over between June and August, the hottest month is July that reaches around 30 degrees.
