Skiathos has some of the finest beaches in Greece. With golden sands and backed by pine forests with calm waters many are perfect for relaxing couples of families.
It is worth knowing that some beaches are nudist, might be worth checking before you venture forth!
Koukounaries
Probably the most famous beach and one of the most picturesque with golden sands and pine trees lining the rear. This beach has clam waters with sunbeds and parasols for hire. The beach is around a 30 minute drive from Skiathos town and harbour but well worth it. Behind the beach is a natural inlet meaning you're surrounded by water, sand and a lush forest, just wonderful.
Agia Paraskevi
This is one of the most popular beaches in Skiathos primarily due to it's location. The beach lies just over 6km south of Skiathos town. There are plenty of hotels and taverna's near by offering wonderful eating facilities. The waters here are calm and it makes for a wonderful family beach.
Near by are some hiking trails some of which start very near the beach and head north.
Big Banana Beach
Big Banana is not he nudist beach (that's little Banana, see below) in case you were wondering. Big Banana lies around 30 mins drive from Skiathos town and is in the shape of a long crescent or banana. Similar to most beaches in Skiathos the waters are clam and the sands are golden and once again backed by a forest.
This beach has a more 'upmarket' feel and good facilities with good choices for eating.
Little Banana Beach
Little banana beach lies just north of Big Banana. The beach is of course smaller than it's big sister but this beach is nudist friendly. One ongoing criticism though is that those using this beach are often a tad annoyed by those on boats a little out to sea taking a peak. If you'd like to go nude there are other beaches to explore.
Vromolimnos
A lovely beach with a relaxed atmosphere. Only 8km from Skiathos town and within walking distance from the resort of Kolios. Beautiful sands, calm waters, sunbeds and parasols with cocktails from midday:)
There are a small number of beach bars and tavernas with water sports available too.
Achladies
This lovely beach is just over 500 meters long with crystal clear waters and sunbeds available for around eight euro's per day. As the waters here are so clear it is a wonderful beach for those who enjoy snorkelling.
The beach itself is south to south west of Skiathos town and is about 15 minutes away. The beach isn't very 'resorty' it's much more local with delicatessens and bakeries along the back road. Lovely.
Agia Eleni
For those who enjoy a beach sunset, this is the beach for you. This beautiful beach lies on the west of Skiathos (as you'd expect for the sunsets) and is a 20 mite walk over over hills and through pine groves from Koukounaries.
The sunset here is something else, highly recommended.
Kanapitsa
This is the beach for those who want to unwind with a book. There are only a few loungers and one or two local tavernas. This beach though is a hidden gem lying on the Kalamaki peninsula. Travel here is from the public bus (Skiathos town is the start/end point) or water taxi.
Mandraki
A very quiet beach lying on the north west of Skiathos, the beach sits under sheer cliffs and is one of the most remote beaches on the island.
The beach is exposed and can be rather breezy with choppy seas. The sunset is spectacular and as we mention, few tourists actually venture here.
